The following improvements have been made to Jovian: Apr. 9 2009 v. 1.14 -Based on the work done for 'Project Poutine' several changes have been made to the plugin. -Switching between the Color Mixer and Color Palette is now done via an M and P buttom. The Save As button has been moved to the more logical position by the Color Wheel. -As a side effect of the change in the Mixer/Palette system, I've decided to add the ability to save and load palette files to the free version of Jovian. This had previously only been in the registered version. -Another benefit from 'Project Poutine' is the improved sorting algorithm that is used for sorting Library entries. In my test case of 30,000+ colors, what took minutes went to less than 2 seconds. -A bug has been fixed in the HSV's Sat and Value modes. With Hue Controls set to LW Mode, you can now adjust all three componants of the model. Now the only difference between LW Mode and PS Mode is that LW Mode doesn't adjust the colors in the main selection area to match the vertical selection area's value. -A bug has been fixed that would allow a Library folder and its contents to disappear if the folder was moved to inside one of its own sub-folders. Such moves are now prevented. -The MacOSX build now directly uses the system's file browser. This enables Jovian to set the list of Allowed File Types making it easier to find the correct file to load. Nov. 30 2009 v. 1.12 -Some additions to the color mixer. Added 'Average' as a Color Mixer blending type. Because of this addition, the blending type for any saved mix files will need to be adjusted after loading. The contribution of the active color slider is now shown in the top left of the mixer, ranging from 0-100%. The color sliders can now be adjusted via the keyboard's arrow keys, left-right changes which slider is active, up-down adjusts the active slider's contribution to the mix. -Added the ability to quickly flip the display of the RGB controls between integer and float by tapping the 'f' key. -A second attempt at fixing the crash related to Sasquatch. This time whenever Jovian is opened from Sasquatch, Jovian will display a message box before returning you to Sasquatch. This message box is ment to prevent a race condition from occuring in LW (by delaying the time between closing Jovian and having LW cleanup the panel data). Thanks go to Johan Steen for testing this fix. Nov. 10 2009 v. 1.11 -Project "Canadian Voodoo Grey" adds a color mixer to the registered version of Jovian. To use the color mixer, click the Opts button and select the new Enable Color Mixer item. This will change the Quick Color Wells into a color mixer, it also changes the 'Store' and 'Use' buttons into a pair of 'Set' and 'Mixer' buttons. The color mixer is made up of a series of vertical sliders. Each slider can be assigned a different color. Moving a slider up and down causes that color to be more or less involved in the mixing process. While the color mixer is enabled, you can still use all of Jovian's other color tools, but as soon as you click on a slider then the current color will be the product of the color mixer. There are three ways to click on the color mixer. A normal left (or right) click will set that slider as the active one and move it to the clicked postion. Holding Ctrl when clicking will cause the newly select slider to also be assigned whatever the current color was before the mixing took place. And finally, holding Shift when clicking will cause the choosen slider to be set as the active slider, but it won't change position or cause a mix to occur. You can also hold both Ctrl+Shift to assign a color to any slider without the current color being changed by the mixer. The Set button is another way assign the current color to the active slider. The active slider is made visible by an extra bevel inside the button. The Mixer button contains the color mixer's options including what Blending Type to use, the number of sliders (2-9) and the ability to load or save the mixer setting and colors as a .jcm file. The Blending Types are: Add, Difference, Exclusion, Lighten, Negate and Screen. These adjust just how each color is mixed in with the next. If a slider's assigned color came from the Library, then the color's name will be displayed over the bottom row of the color mixer. -Two new additions to the Library. The entries can now be moved and sorted. To move an entry, simply click and drag it to the desired location. Secondly the entries, both folder and color, can be sorted in a number of ways. The Library's Format button has been replaced with a View button which contains the sorting options in addition to the previous display format options. Entries can be sorted A-Z, Z-A, Dark-Bright, Bright-Dark and Hue. -In order to address some .cfg file permission issues, I've added using LW's config folder as a fallback location to store the files. This only applies to Windows as Mac was always using that folder. But the default on Windows is to use the folder that contains the Jovian.p file. -A crash related to Sasquatch appears to be fixed. Where the bug lies is still unknown but it seems that commenting out some unneeded code as solved it. Thanks go to Boris Goreta for testing this fix. Oct. 26 2009 v. 1.09 -Project "Canuck" adds a new Matching Colors search feature. To see which colors in the Library have the same or similar RGB values to the currently chosen color, simply have the Library open and click on the current color swatch (the square to the left of the Use/Store buttons which shows the current color). To limit the search to only exact color matches, hold down the Ctrl key when clicking the swatch. As with text searches, the results can be cleared by clicking the C button. Or saved by clicking Export. Because the top half of the color swatch is now clickable, there is a 10 pixel dead-zone between the two halves to prevent accidental clicks in the wrong area, since the swatch below the current color can be clicked to revert to the incoming color. -Doubled the maximum length of a color's name in the Library. -Fixed a small memory leak in the Library. -The Mac build should now include support for 64 bit. There are some minor text/alignment issues which will be fixed in a later build. Sep. 01 2009 v. 1.08b -Just a quick bug fix to compensate for some floating point number oddness with the RGB to Kelvin conversion. Aug. 31 2009 v. 1.08 -The Single Click to Use option has been added to. This option now lets you can store the current color by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the target color well. -The visible Kelvin range can now be defined in the Options panel. The default, and previously hard-coded, range of displayed values is 1000.0 to 12220.0. This was choosen so that the white point would be in the center, but now you can set it to the full scale of 0.0 to 40000.0 or anywhere in between (even backwards). -The colors for Kelvin values 0 through 1000 have been adjusted to be more accurate, in previous versions that range was just a smooth gradient towards black at zero. The black point has been moved up to 500K. -The Kelvin model will now try to convert the current color into the corresponding Kelvins. If Kelvin is the current model when opening Jovian it will attempt the conversion, the conversion is also attempted anytime the Kelvin button is pressed. Because the Kelvin model doesn't span the whole spectrum, there can be problems converting colors which aren't present in the model (like neon green). This can result in odd results but it's better than always defaulting to 6600K. If the conversion attempt fails, the Kelvin value will show as 0.0 however the current color won't be changed, allowing you to switch to another color model and edit it. -The Wavelength model will now also attempt to convert the current color into the corresponding wavelength. The conversion takes place anytime you click the Wave button, even if you're already in the Wavelength model. The conversion also happens when opening Jovian with Wavelength as the current model. Mar. 13 2009 v. 1.07 -Operation "Maple Leaf" has been completed. Jovian's Library now includes a Color History. When enabled, a special History folder will be available at the top of the list of folders. Any previously picked colors will be shown here. -The Reset button has been replaced in the registered version with an Opts popup button which include four options: Load Palette - Load a saved palette of colors into the color wells. Save Palette - Save the current colors to a Jovian Palette file (.jcp). Reset To Default - Acts the same as the free version's Reset button. Single Click to Use - Toggle this option to allow you to quickly pick colors from the wells. -The Options panel has been slightly re-arranged, the Registration area is now on the About tab. The Advanced tab now includes options for the Color History. Note: Enabling/disabling the History requires LightWave be closed and re-opened to fully take affect. Feb. 26 2009 v. 1.05 -Added Reset button to reset the Quick Color Storage area's colors to their defaults. -Renamed the Temp button to read Kelvin. -The current color model selection is saved to the cfg file. -Added a Hue Controls option to the Advanced options tab. The free version of Jovian only uses the LW Style option, the registered version can also use PS Style. PS Style changes the Saturation or Value of the colors shown in the main color selection area to match the current Saturation or Value. -In addition to the Color nodes that Save As Nodes creates, the registered version now also saves a Gradient node with the complementary colors as keys. Feb. 24 2009 v. 1.03 - First public release.
